Steppenwolf's 'Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf' Is Smash Success On Broadway

Steppenwolf's 'Woolf' Revival A Broadway Hit

The Edward Albee masterpiece played first--to equally high praise--in Steppenwolf's hometown, and later, in Washington, D.C. Most recently, the production opened Saturday on Broadway at The Booth Theater , exactly 50 years to the day after the original production's opening date in 1962.

From The Washington Post calling it a "stunning revival" to The New York Times hailing it as "the first necessary ticket of the fall Broadway season," love for the Chicago company's take on the tale is unanimous.

Like 2008's "Superior Donuts"--itself another Steppenwolf-born, Tracy Letts-aided hit--the Edward Albee classic was a smash in Chicago nearly two years before its Broadway debut.
