UPDATE: Pro Wrestler Secures Prosthetic For Girl, 9, Who Lost Leg To Save Sister

UPDATE:

After hearing her story, the community has reached out to help Anaiah Rucker. Georgia-based Langdon Athletics informed pro wrestler Steve "The Freak" Chamberland of Rucker's case. Chamberland, who lost his leg in 1999 when someone crashed into his motorcycle, worked with Florida-based Clearwater Brace & Limb to create and donate a prosthetic leg for Anaiah Rucker, AOL reports.

Chamberland became emotional when talking to WAGA about Rucker's experience.

"She's precious. I'm getting teary thinking about it. She has a long road ahead of her, but she's going to be fine," he said.

Rucker was presented with the prosthetic leg at a ceremony April 23.

Nine-year-old Anaiah Rucker and her 5-year-old sister Camry were crossing the street to meet the school bus one morning when a pickup truck came speeding towards them.

With only a moment to react, Anaiah pushed Camry to safety, taking the hit herself.

"She was right beside me and I was holding her hand," Anaiah remembers. "We were in the middle of the road and then I pushed her back... and then I got hit."

The girls' mother, Andrea Taylor, was watching from the front of the house. She ran to help her daughter. "When I got to her, she wasn't breathing," Taylor told NBC.

Anaiah lost a kidney and damaged her spleen. She also suffered a broken neck and two broken legs. Her left leg was shattered so badly that doctors had to amputate it.

Returning home from the hospital after three weeks, Anaiah received a warm welcome from the community. But she remains humble about the heroic deed she did for her sister.

Anaiah says:

"She was too young to get hit like this. If she got hit ... she would be probably gone forever."

The driver of the pickup truck faced no charges.
