Sugarland Stage Collapse Memorial To Be Held For Victims (How You Can Help)

Sugarland announced that it will put on a memorial service for the victims of the stage collapse incident that killed five people.

The memorial will take place after other private ceremonies for the victims are held, according to iVillage.

Sugarland expressed their grief for those affected by the tragedy in a statement on their website.

"We join them on their mourning benches," the statement said. "And we stand in the gap asking God to offer them peace and healing. For those suffering from injury we hold you up with prayers for complete healing of your own."

Last Saturday, a powerful wind gust caused the band's stage to collapse before a concert at the Indiana State Fair.

A memorial service to honor the victims of the collapse took place at the fair grounds earlier this week.

At the service, Gov. Mitch Daniels praised fair attendees who risked their own safety to help the injured trapped under metal and lights. The Kokomo Tribune reports Daniels told the crowd at Monday's service:

“There was a hero every 10 feet on Saturday night. I cannot tell you how proud I am to be the employee of six and a half million people like that.”

The Tribune reports that those wishing to aid the victims of the tragedy should send a check payable to the Central Indiana Community Foundation, 615 N. Alabama St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
