Surprise Marriage Proposal On 'WWHL'

Things got very real and very live in the closing moments of "Watch What Happens: Live" on Wednesday night. After the show was essentially over, Andy Cohen went to visit with the night's bartender, US Men's Water Polo team goalkeeper Chay Lapin. He told Chay he wanted to meet his girlfriend. But it was all a setup.

Once his girlfriend, Kim, was brought up, it was Chay who actually had something to say to her. "I wanted to catch you off guard," he told her. "And I wanted to tell you I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

“Are you serious?” Kim asked in shock as Chay got down on one knee. Guest Tamar Braxton, who had no idea what was coming, provided the soundtrack with shrieks of delight in the background. "Oh my gosh, Chay! Are you kidding me right now?" Kim asked again, before finally answering, "Yeah!”

Chay and Kim have been together for five-and-a-half years, and Chay said that Kim loves "Watch What Happens: Live." So he figured the clubhouse was the perfect place to pop the question. The only flaw in Chay's master plan was that his own mother lives on the West Coast. That meant she heard about the proposal via social media and the Internet before it broadcast in her time zone.

There are more wedding bells in the future for "WWHL" as well. Bravo is currently holding a contest to get married live on the show, with Cohen officiating the ceremony. There are five couples vying for the prize, with fans voting online for their favorite. Maybe Chay and Kim can come back later and get married by Cohen, too.

You never know what's going to go down on "Watch What Happens: Live," every Sunday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET on Bravo.
