'So You Think You Can Dance': Two Eliminated At Top Of Show Still Must Perform Later (VIDEO)

'SYTYCD' Cuts Two At Top, Makes Them Perform Later

Once again, "So You Think You Can Dance" is shaking things up. After losing their elimination show, they had to get creative and start eliminating people during the performance show. This season, Nigel Lythgoe and company decided the best solution was to eliminate those contestants at the top of the show ... and then still have them perform later with their partner.

It seemed to be a bit of a shock to the four dancers who found themselves having to dance for their lives. After their solo performances, Nigel told them he wasn't impressed. "When you’re dancing for your life on this program, I want to feel as though you are truly dancing for your existence in this program.”

Carlos and Brittany became the first two casualties of Season 10. But should they have to dance again later after they've been cut? Especially when that performance could determine their partner's fate in the competition! TVLine doesn't think this new elimination format is a good idea at all. "It’s a move that potentially puts the eliminated contestant’s partner at risk," they wrote. "What if the evictee phones it in, or can’t recover from the bad news in time to truly brrrring it?"

Then, there's the possibility that a just-eliminated contestant will bring a stellar performance later in the night -- as Carlos did this week -- and make the judges wish they'd cut one of the other contestants in the bottom. Still, Buddy TV likes how the show continues to shake things up.

The Top 18 hit the stage next week as "So You Think You Can Dance" continues, Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
