The Adorable Way Jay Z And T-Pain Squashed Their Beef

When Jay Z released "D.O.A (Death of Auto-Tune)" in June 2009, T-Pain — the artist who brought Auto-Tune sound to the top of the charts — was at the peak of his career. In the two years prior, T-Pain had two top-five charting albums in the bag, along with a boatload of smash singles and features.

Jay's shot at the trend was seen as a death knell to T-Pain's career. In a HuffPost Live interview on Tuesday, T-Pain said that he would have fans come to his concerts just to say that Jay Z killed him. Pain, in turn, started dissing Jay at his shows and made some disparaging comments in the press.

Cooler heads later prevailed, and Pain said he apologized to Jay one night in a club. It went better — and stranger — than expected.

"He ruffled my hair. Like, 'Oh, it's alright,'" he told host Marc Lamont Hill. "He was in front of Beyonce so I was just like, 'Alright. Thank you.' He said something to the effect of, 'Don't worry about it.'"

The tiff is ancient history, the artist said Tuesday. T-Pain came on the show to talk about his upcoming album, "T-Pain Presents Happy Hour: The Greatest Hits," which comes out Nov. 5.
