Having read and loved Laurie David's The Family Dinner, I want to add that it is not just a book advocating that families eat dinner together, but that ideas, literature, the beauty of language are all woven into the family's way of being. Dinner is, of course, a wonderful place to come together but what is ceremonialized at dinner is what happens throughout the days and years, in town, on vacations, wherever the family is. The customs of The Family Dinner become how everyone thinks of family. Bravo, Laurie.
