'Talk Of The Nation,' Neal Conan Sign Off NPR

'Talk Of The Nation' Signs Off

NPR's "Talk of the Nation" had its last show on Friday.

The network announced in March that it was ending the show after twenty-one years. On Friday, the final show saw host Neal Conan signing off after 36 years at NPR, as well.

In his farewell, he thanked the people at NPR "who made this program happen" as well as the listeners who tuned in. He promised to continue supporting public radio as a listener, as long as it met his challenge: "Tell me what's important, and don't waste my time with stupid stuff," he said.

The show tweeted on Friday:

Conan had hosted "Talk of the Nation" for almost 12 years. The daily call-in show will be replaced by "Here and Now," which was previously a one-hour program that will now be expanded into a two-hour program.
