Best Taxis In The World: London Cabbies Win The Prize, According To Poll

We've always loved their encyclopedic knowledge of even the smallest mews (thanks AZ!), and it turns out others like them, too.

For the 6th year in a row, London taxis win the prize for being the best at what they do, according to aHotels.com poll, that is. The traditional black cabs that are synonymous with the streets of London top the lists for best safety, value, knowledge of area, quality and friendliness.

Following in their footsteps are New York City, Tokyo and Berlin (in value and availability). Amsterdam, Madrid, and Mexico City tie to round out the top five of 30 countries surveyed.

A few additional fun facts revealed by the survey: bizarre items left in cabs. Wigs, birds, a prosthetic leg and false teeth to name a few. Oddly, some of these items were left on planes, too.
