Teen Places $15 Million eBay Bid For Coca-Cola Recipe

Teen Bids $15 Million For Coca-Cola Recipe

Last week, antique hunter Cliff Kluge thought he may have found the secret recipe for Coca-Cola. So he put the recipe on eBay for a "Buy Now" price of $15 million.

And it looks like some eager 15-year-old was excited to get his hands on the goods. While Kluge admits that posting the recipe for such a high price was a bit of a publicity stunt, he would have nonetheless been thrilled if it someone was actually going to pony up so much money. It doesn't seem to be the case though. "[S]ome 15-year-old kid bid on it (at $15 million) — and it's not a legitimate bid," Kluge told Agence France Presse.

The kid had three days to come up with the money but -- no shocker here -- it doesn't look like it materialized.

Looks like Kluge might have to keep that recipe to himself. At least he's pretty sure he's at least onto something, even if he can't totally prove it is the real deal (and Coca-Cola says it isn't). On the eBay listing, he writes:

There is no doubt (at least in my mind) that whoever typed the letter had seen the original recipe for Coca Cola, and they reference that on the second page - "On page 83 of the Extractor...." Is it the original recipe? I don't know, but more evidence and external factors are falling in place to bolster the fact that this could be the original, with an emphasis on the word "could". Looking at the recipe, it certainly is a lot more complicated than I could have ever imagined.

Thus, the mystery continues...
