Teen Stabbed In Shoulder While Riding CTA Red Line Train

Teen Stabbed During CTA Red Line Altercation

A teenage girl was listed in good condition Thursday after being stabbed in the shoulder on the CTA Red Line as the train approached the Sox-35th stop Wednesday evening.

Police say the 17-year-old girl may have been involved in a fight which lead to the stabbing just before 9:30 p.m., NBC Chicago reports. The suspected stabbers were able to run away from the station before police arrived on the scene. The girl was taken to Mercy Hospital, where she was still recovering Thursday.

CTA spokeswoman Wanda Taylor said that the train was taken out of service after the altercation and rerouted to the 95th Street station, according to Fox Chicago. The train is now being searched for evidence that could help lead police to the crime's alleged perpetrators.

It remains unclear whether the stabbing victim knew her attackers. Police, as of yet, do not have anyone in custody and their investigation is continuing.
