It’s a beautiful fall day here on Long Island, and it’s that time again — Thanksgiving Eve! Some people call it ‘Black Wednesday’ here in the States. Why? Because it’s the busiest night of the year for bars the COUNTRY over!

If you’re not from the US, to keep a long story short, the way that Thanksgiving is typically celebrated is to go out and get DRUNK the evening before Thanksgiving, and then to eat that hangover away on Thanksgiving Day with quite a bit of unsavory fare. Fortunately, I’ve already released my Thanksgiving Recipe Guide to you in preparation for tomorrow, but let’s talk about how to handle tonight if you plan on going out…

There’s a good chance that you’re planning to meet up with local friends and/or local family members at a bar near your home tonight. Outside of being overcrowded, you’re going to be in a place where you won’t have complete control over either the drinks or the food being served. This leaves you with two steps to follow in order to insure that you don’t completely derail yourself or your weight loss efforts tonight:

1) Eat BEFORE you go out!

Prepare and eat a healthy meal beforehand, and perhaps bring a healthy snack with you in the car, in your bag, or in your coat to the location you’re planning to visit. My Top 3 turn-to’s for healthy snacks are: 1) Organic, raw almonds, 2) An apple, or 3) A Quest Bar.

2) Remain within the Trio of Terror.

While I can’t in good conscience recommend you drink ANY alcohol on your weight loss journey, there are three ‘preferred’ options that won’t do as much damage in comparison all the others:

1) Tequila,

2) Gin, and

3) Dry Red Wine.

I’m sure your local watering hole will be serving all three in abundance tonight, so you should be in more than capable hands should you choose to participate in ‘Black Wednesday.’

I should be sending out a Thanksgiving message tomorrow, but in the even that I don’t, from my family to your’s, have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,Pete Weintraubpete@weightlossbypete.com
