Host Maz Jobrani quipped, “The International Emmys is the World Cup of television”. The 2017 International Emmy Awards were held on November 20th at The Hew York Hilton in Manhattan. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences yearly showcases excellence in international television programming.

The weekend of the November 18-19th The International Emmy World Television Festival is at home in the Sofitel Hotel in midtown. Saturday started with a Nominee Medal Ceremony in the Ballroom followed by a light lunch. The Screening Lounge featured individual viewing of the nominated programs from around the world.

The best in worldwide creative and production talent was the focus on comedy, documentary, drama series, non-scripted entertainment, short-form series, telenovela TV movie/ mini-series and arts panels.

The JCS International Young Creatives Award designed to discover, recognize and foster young talent and and create a global conversation around peace went to Eisa Alhabib, Ewing Luo and Roberto Pino Alymmeda. The Sunday festival brunch was hosted by Brazil’s multi platform content provider Globo.

The Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting award winner Joe Brukner had a reading of his script, “Judas” in the St. Germaine Room. HBO hosted a festival closing cocktail party were President and CEO Bruce L. Paisner, Emmy’s Chairman and Chairman & CEO of Phoenix Satelite Televison Liu Changle, Emmy’s Gala Chair Andy Kaplan, nominees, jurors and guests mingled and talked shop. On Monday evening, November 20th the Hilton Hotel hosted The 45th International Emmy® Awards Emmy Awards where over 1,000 guests attended the black tie gala event.

The 11 winning International Emmy programs and performances were : Hip-Hop Evolution (Arts Programming), Kenneth Branagh(Best Performance by an Actor), Anna Friel (Best Performance by an Actress), Alan Partridge’s Scissored Isle(Comedy), EXODUS: Our Journey to Europe (Documentary), Mammon II (Drama Series), Sr. Ávila (Non-English Language US Primetime Program), Sorry Voor Alles (Non-Scripted Entertainment), The Braun Family (Short-Form Series); Kara Sevda (Telenovela), and Don’t Leave Me (TV Movie/Mini-Series).

Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav, presented the International Emmy Directorate Award to Emilio Azcárraga Jean, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Grupo Televisa, the world's largest Spanish-language content provider and Mexico's largest broadcaster and pay television provider.
