The Brawny Man Is The Brawny Woman For Women's History Month

"Strength has no gender."

Brawny is ringing in Women’s History Month by declaring (again) that #StrengthHasNoGender. 

The brand’s latest ad campaign highlights groundbreaking women in history and also focuses specifically on four inspiring women in STEM. This is the campaign’s second iteration, which was launched for the first time last year during Women’s History Month.

The ad campaign includes five videos; the main main one, titled “Breaking Barriers,” highlights the accomplishments of historic women like Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie and Serena Williams. The four other videos in the campaign focus on four women who are making history right now ― such as the first black female combat pilot in the U.S. armed forces.

1. Dr. Patty Lopez is a datacenter engineer, STEM leader and has won seven patents awards. Listen to her story here

3. Brittany Wenger is a self-taught coder who invented a groundbreaking breast cancer detection program. Oh, and she’s only a senior in college. Listen to her story here.

4. Dr. Anna Kornbrot is an oral surgeon, and the first woman to graduate from University of Pennsylvania. Listen to her story here

Brawny donated $75,000 towards STEM education for participants in women's empowerment organization Girls Inc.

“There are women and girls everywhere who exhibit strength and resilience in their lives, and that’s the inspiration behind the Brawny #StrengthHasNoGender campaign,” Frances Morgan, senior brand manager at Georgia-Pacific, said in a press release. “STEM is among many areas of society that are underrepresented by females, and we felt this would be a powerful platform to address this issue. Our partnership with Girls, Inc. will help promote girls’ interest in these fields and empower them to break gender stereotypes.” 

For the month of March, shoppers can get a “limited edition” of Brawny paper towels that feature the Brawny woman not man. Commercial gimmick? Yes. A kinda fun one? Also, yes.
