'The Michael J. Fox Show' On NBC: Betsy Brandt Talks New Comedy, The End Of 'Breaking Bad'

"The Michael J. Fox Show" is helping bring back the family comedy to NBC. The series stars Fox as Mike Henry, a news anchor with Parkinson's, who goes back to work thanks to some pushing from his family, particularly his wife Anne, played by Betsy Brandt.

"I was just excited when I heard he had a show because I love him and I want to watch him," Brandt said of her co-star. "I think he's one of the funniest people on TV ever -- such a gifted actor and also such a great guy. There are not enough good things to say about him."

The actress is going from the dark world of "Breaking Bad" to the comedy world thought up by Fox, "Cougar Town's" Sam Laybourne and "Easy A" veteran Will Gluck, but Brandt said it was an easy transition.

"After you leave a show -- any show, but for me especially after 'Breaking Bad' -- you hope for a job to help soften the blow now that you don't have this amazing job anymore and you hope that it's good," Brandt said on the red carpet for NBC's 2013 Upfront presentation. "I was really hoping I could get a comedy. This just kind of happened. It was meant to be."

Brandt, whose other TV credits include "ER" and "Without a Trace," said she likes doing both comedy and drama, but after the last eight episodes of "Breaking Bad," she was ready for a change. "It was a great season to shoot, but it was tough. They're so good," she said of the final episodes. "You feel so satiated and just well-fed as a viewer [at the end]."

Brandt assures "Breaking Bad" fans that they'll be satisfied. "I told the writers before we even started shooting Season 5, I said 'I was a huge fan of 'Six Feet Under,'" she said. "I loved the series finale of that show where you see everybody's life and death, and I said, 'We don't need to shoot it, just write it and just give it to me' ... It's the perfect ending for this show."
