The Most Expensive Housing Markets In The United States (PHOTOS)

Today, Coldwell Banker released its list of the most expensive housing markets in the United States. If you're lucky enough to own property in one of these markets, you're probably very well insulated from the historic downturn in home values of the last few years. (At least, we hope you are.)

While many of the top markets -- we're looking at you Beverly Hills and Greenwich -- won't come as a surprise, there were a handful of curveballs in this year's list. Interestingly, despite the decimated state of its state budget and the ruined real estate of towns like Irvine, California dominates the list. One note: because of its lack of comparable housing units, New York City was left off this list.
