The New York Manzie Report

The men's collections for Fall '10, between Milan and Paris and New York City, are really great...and very butch.

"It's good to be the king." So said Mel Brooks in History of the World, Part 1. The reason I bring this up is because the men's collections for Fall '10, between Milan and Paris and New York City, are really great...and very butch. So, my quote for this season is, "It's not good to be the queen". In what I am calling an immediate response to my Manzie Reports from last season, every designer on Earth quickly revisited their sketches for this season and chose to man up. Thank you all for taking note, but now what am I supposed to do regarding the Manzie Report Fall '10? Herewith are a short order of images that I had to pick through all the collections with a fine tooth comb. I couldn't sit out a season, Lord knows. We do need some comic relief from "the seriously butch man look" that is flooding the runways. Boy, are the "straight acting gays" in for a sex-filled season.

Thom Browne is my Manzie Hero. This outfit is plucked right out of the 1939 film, The Women and is something Mrs. Howard Fowler (Rosalind Russell) would have worn.

This is what happens to Little Lord Fauntleroy in the latter years. A big, silly queen.

Annie Got Her Gun.

Giving us fierce sock puppet.

Custo? Maybe in Barcelona.

Not even.

Peach is a color that never works, be it in interiors, women's clothing and now proof, in menswear too. Especially in this cape-let/shruggy thing.

Though vertical stripes are slenderizing, these Spurr outfits are a stretch.

Eh.

Even in these muted earth-tones one needs to wear a pair of sunglasses to lessen the glare of this 3-1 Phillip Lim ensemble.

Though overall a good collection, this here knee-length leather jumper is beyond not gonna go into production. And nor will it be a good editorial piece. Actually, what is this?

Gina Lollobrigida orange is alive and well at Lacoste. Didn't they get the memo that it's all wrong?

Guess not.

Boucle for men? No.

Plaid uber alles.
