The final season of "The Office" is in the works, and tears have already been shed.

"Kate [Flannery, who plays Meredith] and I already cried together," Jenna Fischer, who portrays Pam on the long-running series, told US Weekly magazine. "We knew it was our last season, but we weren't allowed to say anything, but, when the announcement came down that day, we were all in a scene together . . . And so it was emotional when we all realized the rest of the world knew too because it made it very real."

NBC announced the ending of "The Office" last week, with producer and showrunner Greg Daniels explaining the reason behind ending the show after its ninth season.

“This year feels like the last chance to … make an artistic ending for the show ... we’re planning a big exciting last season," Daniels told Entertainment Weekly. "All questions will be answered this year. We’re going to see who’s behind the documentary.”

The show's cast may be emotional about it ending, but they're planning on going out with a bang.

"We are cherishing every moment, every scene," "Office" co-star Angela Kinsey toldUs.

"The Office" returns to NBC on Thurs., Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. ET.
