Two questions posed to me today: Was I disgusted by the DeVos nod and do I think all of our energy against her was for naught? My answers: of course and absolutely not. I never thought we could bring down DeVos or, honestly, any of the picks of our so-called prez. It was a numbers game and we never had the numbers. But did I make numerous calls every single day against Sessions, Tillerson, DeVos, et al? Absolutely. Why would I do that if I didn't think we would have an impact? Because I believe we do have an impact. My theory is as follows:

The votes are what matters. We will never underestimate the power of elections. We got complacent. Our reps did too. That ended this year on Election Day and we took up the fight.

So...

We must put our reps and our Senators on notice: This is not and may never be again, politics as usual. We are watching and studying what you do. We are going to continue to do exactly that, and let you know our thoughts and desires via calls, emails, mail, visits, tweets and FB posts, hell messenger pigeon if we have to. You will learn we are engaged and we give a damn.

If I may borrow and customize the sharp and stinging words of Gil Scott-Heron about how the Revolution will happen, here is what we are letting our elected officials know. #45 has kickstarted a revolution and therefore:

"We will not be able to stay home, brother
We will not be able to plug in, turn on and drop out
We will not be able to lose ourselves on vodka and skip
Skip out for beer during commercials
Because the revolution will not be televised

The revolution will not be televised"

This is not something we will do from our comfortable armchairs. We, the Boomers and Millennials are in the streets and with our tweets, coming to you live, we are the Revolution.

If you think we will forget what you did during this term by the next time you come up for election, be it in 2 years, 4 years or 6, you are sorely mistaken. We are on to you, and we will stay on to you every day. There are millions of us coming for you and we have the time, the organization, the patience, the fortitude and the intelligence to bring this revolution to you. Live.

We are voters. Hear us roar. The next Election Day isn't that far off and we have excellent memories. We are not doing all this work and then not going to show up when it counts. Not again, not on our watch.

So, don't lose heart. We have only just begun to fight. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Better yet, think of it as a relay, when you get tired, there will be someone to pick up your baton. We are finding our groups and working cohesively for the first time. If you haven't found one, make that your next challenge.
