The Sundance Diaries Part 3: Sundance Is My Boyfriend, And More From Our Featured Filmmakers (VIDEO)

The Sundance Diaries: Part 3

Our first two installments of The Sundance Diaries dealt in themes of loss and courage. This third time, we're kicking things off on a lighter note: what if Sundance said yes to you when you were a junior in college, studying abroad, and miserable? Throw in a love triangle, Taylor Swift, and the caps lock key and you've got the first of today's five entries, by Sarah Lawrence student and Sundance competitor, Jessie Ennis.

As always, you can click on any filmmaker's name (hyperlinked in the list below) to go to their individual posts. Click "More" at the liveblog's end to access previous entries. Enjoy!

  • Co-creator of "The Arm," Jessie Ennis, on using Sundance to feel better about her love life.
  • "Belly" animator Julia Potts on exploring her characters' insides. Literally!
  • Producer John Hibey on finding actors in Somalia for his short about pirates, "Fishing Without Nets."
  • Animator Kelly Sears on cutting up yearbooks for "Once It Started It Could Not End Otherwise," a minimalist horror short.
  • "The Movement" writer Greg I. Hamilton on relating to his film's famous narrator, Robert Redford.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this article incorrectly listed John Hibey as director of "Fishing Without Nets." The director is Cutter Hodierne, and Hibey produced.
