Thompson Hotel Rallies New Yorkers To Raise $35K For Haiti Relief

Jason Pomeranc's Thompson Hotel rallied New Yorkers Wednesday to raise over $35,000 for the Red Cross in support of the relief effort in Haiti.

The party at Pomeranc's Thompson LES property on the Lower East Side drew guests including Russell Simmons, Whitney Port, Olivia Palermo, Tinsley Mortimer, Fabiola Beracasa, Lily Donaldson, Ali Wise, Joe Zee, Vito Schnabel, Zani Guggelman and Andres Santo Domingo to hear DJs Mark Ronson, Jus-Ske, and Messkid.

"The emergent nature of the situation required fast action," Pomeranc told the Huffington Post after the event, describing the event as a "very organic, very grassroots" effort that came together quickly. "It's about reaching out to friends and coming together and taking out a bit of the formality of some of the charity events that have happened recently. We live a certain life that we're very fortunate to live, and rather than hide from that I think we have an obligation to utilize that to help."

Guests were asked to give a $20 donation at the door, and all revenues from the bar were donated to the American Red Cross.

Pomeranc also hosted a fundraiser Wednesday night at one of his properties in LA, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, where guests like Adam Levine, Lake Bell, Cisco Adler, Dermott Mulroney, Scott Caan, and Seth McFarland came together to listen to DJ Thom Yorke and raise over $20,000 for the Red Cross.
