Through Your Lens: 9 Volcanoes Around The World That Will Take Your Breath Away

They've existed on Earth far, far longer than we have.

The WorldPost's "Through Your Lens" series brings you mesmerizing photos taken by social media users in different countries around the world every week. 

Volcanoes, formed by magma rising from the Earth's crust, are formidable forces of nature. They've existed on Earth far, far longer than we have. The first volcanic eruption to be recorded in detail was from Mount Vesuvius, Italy, 79 A.D. -- and it remains one of the few active volcanoes in Europe today.  

Social media users have submitted some breathtaking photos of volcanoes taken around the world -- from Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy, to Mount Fuji in Japan, to Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Here are some of our favorite ones:
