Tim Tebow Comeback: Tony Dungy Doesn't Think Tebow-led Offense 'Can Go Very Long'

Can Tebow-led Offense Last Very Long?

Somehow, some way, Tim Tebow did it again. After 54 minutes of football that vacillated between lackluster and downright bad, Tebow was again able to rally the Broncos to an improbable win. His drive de resistance against the New York Jets was a 95-yard masterwork, capped by a wild 20-yard touchdown romp with less than a minute remaining on the clock. After the ensuing extra point, the Broncos held the 17-13 that would soon become the final score.

On Denver's first 11 drives, Tebow went 6 for 15 for a mere 69 yards, while rushing for 11 yards on two carries. During that stretch, the Broncos were 1-11 on third downs. But on the final drive, Tebow completed three of five passes for 35 yards while rushing for 57 yards on six runs. Just as he did during, the comeback against the Dolphins, Tebow managed to prove both his critics and supporters right over the span of quarters.

Nevertheless, former Indianapolis Colts coach and current NBC analyst Tony Dungy remains skeptical of the Tebow-led offense.

"I don't know how much longer it can go. I don't think it can go very long. They're going to have to get some more passing game, some way," Dungy said on The Dan Patrick Show (Via ProFootballTalk). "To win those big games you’re going to have to complete some third-down passes, you’re going to have to be able to get some explosive games in the passing game."

Although he seems happy to ride Tebow to wins in low-scoring games, even Broncos coach John Fox seems to have many of the same reservations as Dungy. Just days before the win over the Jets, Fox admitted that Tebow would be "screwed" in a contemporary passing offense.

Some, like Yahoo's Michael Silver, believe that Tebow defies the purest of NFL purists' wisdom. Denver's 4-1 record with Tebow under center simply cannot be explained. It just can't.

So instead of arguing, we're going to go with what Greg Couch on Fox Sports wrote: "Just enjoy it. Have fun."
