Tinder Tells U.S. Olympians To Keep Their Eyes On The Games

Hey, Team USA: Quit using Tinder, and focus on the games.

That's the gist of Tinder co-founder Justin Mateen's message to athletes following U.S. Olympic snowboarder Jamie Anderson's remarks about using the popular dating app in the Olympic Village.

"Tinder is a great way to meet new people when you're traveling and want to get the most out of your experience in a new city, but for now, focus on giving it your all while competing,” Mateen told TMZ. “Tinder will always be here when you’re done.”

The U.S. Olympic team is doing well in its medal count at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and apparently, the minds behind Tinder don’t want to be responsible if the team underperforms.

In an interview with Us Weekly earlier this week, Anderson shared her affinity for the app, which allows users to match with people in their area based on a few pictures.

When asked what it is she and the other female athletes like to do for fun in the Olympic village, Anderson responded: “Tinder! Tinder in the Olympic Village is next level. It's all athletes! In the mountain village it's all athletes. It's hilarious. There are some cuties on there."

While she enjoys the app, Anderson said she deleted Tinder early on in order to avoid the distraction.

Another Olympian, New Zealand snowboarder Rebecca Torr, also seemed pretty excited about using Tinder at the games. However, she wants everyone to know not to take her so seriously.
