Tony Kornheiser: Andre Johnson Avoided Suspension Due To Thursday Night Game

Radio Host: Star Receiver Avoided Suspension Due To Thursday Night Game

Tony Kornheiser said on his radio show on Tuesday that Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson avoided a suspension for his fight with Cortland Finnegan on Sunday because his team is playing a Thursday night game this week.

"Do you think that part of [the lack of suspension for Johnson] might have to do with the fact that the NFL, which owns the NFL Network, has a game on Thursday night featuring the Houston Texans, whose only draw is basically Andre Johnson?" Kornheiser reportedly said. "And I'm not going to say, 'I'm not saying, I'm just saying.' I'm gonna say, I think it does."

In the fourth quarter of Houston's 20-0 victory over Tennessee, Johnson ripped off Finnegan's helmet and repeatedly punched him in the face after the Titans cornerback jabbed him in the face mask.

The NFL fined both players $25,000 each, but neither were suspended.

The former "Monday Night Football" announcer said he was certain that Johnson was going to get suspended for at least on game.
