Tornado Storm Cellar Video Shows Moore, Oklahoma, Family's First Post-Storm Impressions

WATCH: Family Emerges From Storm Cellar To Find Neighborhood In Ruins

In the aftermath of Monday's devastating tornado, one Oklahoma family recorded its staggering first impressions of a storm-ravaged neighborhood.

The 41-second clip shows a man, whose voice can be heard offscreen, climbing a set of stairs and lifting the hatch of the storm cellar where he and his family had sought shelter. The camera then pans across the debris-strewn landscape. "The lord giveth, and the lord taketh away," he remarks.

According to its description on YouTube, the video was recorded in Moore, the Oklahoma City suburb hit hardest by Monday's system of destructive storms. The National Weather Service was able to alert residents, such as the family from the video, to seek shelter 16 minutes before the tornado hit, Politico reports.
