Vogue Hommes Japan Folds

We're rending our meat bikinis in mourning.

We're rending our meat bikinis in mourning for Vogue Hommes Japan today, which is shuttering its doors by the end of the year.

The glossy fashion mag's last issue will be autumn/winter 2012, said Nicola Formichetti, the publication's long-time creative director.

Conde Nast will switch "its men's publication globally from Vogue to GQ Style," Formichetti writes in a statement posted to his Tumblr page. "I loved the issues we made together. Each issue was a chance to collaborate with the best creatives in the world. Our goal was to push the boundaries of fashion and oh boy did we take it there!!" The designer does say that he'll stay involved in the print magazine world.

Vogue Hommes Japan might be best known for its Lady Gaga cover, where the singer and Formichetti BFF reprised her VMAs meat dress for Terry Richardson in the form of a dripping raw meat bikini. (Vogue Hommes Japan also featured her in drag as her alter ego Jo Calderone.) The mag was launched in 2008 as a counterpart to L'Uomo Vogue, the successful men's edition of Vogue Italia.

Sayonara to a great publication.
