Wayne Clark Threatens 'Bloodbath' In Cat Food Theft: Cops

It would have been the purrrfect crime.

Police say that transient Wayne Clark, 48, attempted to steal and fraudulently return cat food and soda to a Walmart in Orange City, Fla., and, when caught, warned an employee, "Don't turn this into a bloodbath," the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.

Surveillance footage shows allegedly Clark entering the store at 3:50 p.m. Thursday and grabbing a bag of cat food and a 24-pack of soda, then standing briefly standing in line before going to the returns counter and fraudulently returned the items for a total of $13.59.

An employee realized what had happened and tried to prevent Clark from leaving the store with the money. Clark then whipped out a 10-inch knife from his belt and began cursing and threatening people around him. Police say when they took the man into custody, he threatened to hunt down the people who stopped him and "make them feel how cold steel feels like in the neck."

Clark was charged with petty theft, resisting a transit agent while committing a theft and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Walmart is no stranger to bizarre crime.

In August, a couple in Kansas was charged with child abuse after allegedly leaving two children tied up in a Walmart parking lot as part of an exorcism.

And on Christmas Eve 2011, a New York woman was accused of punching a 70-year-old Walmart greeter in the face.
