Weather Channel Ratings Soar During Hurricane

Anxious viewers turned en masse to the Weather Channel for their hurricane news on Friday.

The network posted a big victory in the ratings on the back of its wall-to-wall coverage of Hurricane Irene's impending arrival along the East Coast, reports TVNewser. 2.45 million people tuned in during prime time, with 1.11 million of them in the key A25-54 demo. Fox News was second in total viewers, with 1.96 million, but lagged behind CNN in the demo. CNN averaged 1.47 million total viewers with 477,000 in the demo, the second highest of the night.
