West Virginia vs. Kansas State: Can Geno Smith Lead Mountaineers To Upset Over Collin Klein, Wildcats?

DEBATE: No. 13 West Virginia vs. No. 4 Kansas State

Geno Smith vs. Collin Klein.

While the marquee matchup taking place in Morgantown is more than a one-on-one duel between these quarterbacks, the performances of each will go a long way toward determining the outcome. The No. 13 Mountaineers' defeat at Texas Tech may have lessened the hype slightly but don't tell the No. 4 Wildcats that the stakes -- or the challenge -- has changed.

"They're in a little different spot than they expected to be going into this ballgame," Klein told The Associated Press, "but we know we're going to get their best shot regardless."

Featuring two of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country and a pair of offenses that average better than 40 points per contest, this Top 25 clash figures to include plenty of fireworks (and hopefully won't be followed by any couch fires). Ultimately, the game may come down to West Virginia's beleaguered defense, which has been shredded even in wins.

Can West Virginia stop Klein's runs? Will he still be able to carve up the Mountaineers through the air even if the ground game is stuffed? Will the Wildcats keep themselves firmly in the national championship conversation? Can Smith vault himself ahead of Klein in the Heisman Trophy race?

To help answer these questions and more, we've invited Mark Kern of The Kansas State Collegian and Michael Carvelli of The Daily Athenaeum to introduce us to both teams and argue on behalf of the one they cover. Whose side are you taking?
