Last night, I finally saw Fantastic Mr. Fox. Not only were the visuals totally captivating, I fell in love with the lead character {or Clooney's voice...teehee}, Mr. Fox.

Mr. Fox is a master at convincing others to go along with his risky schemes. Even though his actions caused the suffering of others around him, he has an admirable trait that made forgiving him quite easy.

His Wild Vulnerability.

You know the scene I'm talking about - when he loses his prized treehouse after robbing all the farmers in the town. After his family reaches safety underground, Mr. and Mrs. Fox have *a moment* in a sparkly cave.

In the midst of disaster, his eyes soften and with an open heart he says, "I can't help it, I'm a wild animal. This is who I am."

Like Fantastic Mr. Fox, I love being unapologetically ME. It's thrilling to share my heart's song.

Now, what the heck does Mr. Fox have to do with marketing?? EVERYTHING.

Marketing requires your willingness to be vulnerable.

One of the things that I love most about running my creative business is the opportunity to share personal stories of overcoming adversity. When I hesitate to press 'send' or 'post', I know that I'm about to experience a right of passage of the Wild Vulnerability Bridge.

The word marketing has some pretty strong associations - mostly negative in my experience talking with artists. Generally, I've noticed people say that 'Marketing Yourself' feels overwhelming, weird, or dirty.

I think it's about time we really redefine the word...for ourselves.

At its heart, marketing is sharing your heart's song with the world in a creative and positive way.

Being a good marketer of your creative work requires your participation and:

* Vulnerability
* Tools
* Support

There's no right or wrong way to share your story AND marketing is not a 'bad thing'. It's your story, your gifts, and your vision.

In the Unstarving Artist Academy, I'm offering a 'Bite Size Marketing' training to help you get started on your journey of sharing your heart's song with the world!

I'll share with you the tools that have helped me grow an audience from ten people to over 100,000. No schmarmy schemes and no paid advertisement. All 100% heart.

I suddenly have a craving for chicken and apple cider...*snarls*
