What Is 'The Hunger Games'? Twitter Users Wonder About Record-Setting Movie

No Idea What 'The Hunger Games' Is? You're Not Alone

"What is 'The Hunger Games'?" If you've been asking yourself that question lately, you're not alone.

Though the Gary Ross-directed film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' widely popular novel has been the subject of near-constant media coverage for the past month, a number of Twitter users appear to have been immune to all the press. It happens! Even Mike Ryan, Moviefone's senior writer, admitted that he had no idea what the series was about just a mere two weeks ago.

The time to learn, however, is now. According to Lionsgate's estimates, last night's midnight showings of "The Hunger Games" brought in an astounding $19,735,000, which the studio says is the highest non-sequel midnight haul of all time.

In other words, you won't stop hearing about it any time soon.
