Anyone who makes documentaries hopes they will make a difference.

Robert West, who founded Working Films in 1999 with filmmaker Judith Helfand, spent the last 14 years making sure that they did, by always asking the question: "What will you do when the lights come up?"

Robert West passed away yesterday morning following a difficult illness. His Working Films colleagues were in Boston helping launch "Inequality for All," the new film on Robert Reich that promises to do for the economy what "An Inconvenient Truth" did for the environment. That's the stuff that Robert West and Working Film are made of.

Robert West, RIP.
