It may take five or more minutes before an emergency department in Los Angeles gets to the scene of a fresh incident. It is important that the hearts of the victims continue pumping before then.
This means that many people need to learn the basics of keeping victims alive before emergency services arrive. This can be done through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support (BLS) lessons.
But what if you’re busy and you can’t get physical training? What if you want to learn on your own schedule?
This is where online CPR Certification comes in. If you want to know more than just CPR, you can also go for online BLS certification. Getting one or both certifications will help you save a life at that intense time when every second counts, literally.
Qualifications for Online CPR and BLS Certification
There are many misconceptions concerning who specifically can get certified. Some think that you need to have a medical background. Others believe you should be conversant with basic life saving techniques. After all, how does one stranger just do CPR on another?
All these perceptions are totally wrong. You do not need any of these. You just need to be willing to do it, whether you’re a coach, student, businessman, adult or teenager.
Why is this open to everyone? The statistics will shock you. According to the American Heart Association, there are 17.3 million deaths yearly caused by heart disease. Sadly, this number is expected to increase.
Sudden cardiac arrest is among the leading causes of death in Los Angeles. As soon as a cardiac event occurs, there needs to be a bystander who can perform immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation to keep the person alive before paramedics arrive.
There are many other emergencies that occur and will also need someone with BLS knowledge nearby.
You therefore already qualify to learn CPR and BLS. This will help you save the lives of your loved ones and even strangers who need you at the spur of the moment.
When is CPR Necessary?
CPR combines artificial ventilation and chest compression to restore flow of oxygenated blood to the heart and brain.
It should be used on people who:
· Collapse suddenly and unexpectedly
· Are unresponsive when you talk to or try to move them
· Have been rescued from drowning
· Have taken a drug overdose
· Have inhaled too much carbon monoxide
These are bound to happen anywhere. 80% of cardiac arrests actually happen at home, meaning they could easily happen to your loved ones. Prepare yourself for such emergencies by taking online CPR classes.
Basic life support (BLS) involves giving medical care to people suffering from life-threatening illnesses or injuries. It doesn't involve drugs or invasive equipment. A notable advancement is the automated external defibrillator (AED), which improves survival outcomes.
BLS ensures that blood circulation is adequate and that a person breathes through a clear airway. It's a fairly simple process that can be remembered as ABC:
· A for Airway: Always ensure the airway is clear
· B for Breathing: Breath into the victim's mouth to oxygenate blood.
· C for Circulation: Compress their chest to circulate the blood throughout their body.
BLS is necessary in three major conditions:
Conclusion
It’s terrible to lose yet another life during an emergency while a simple CPR or BLS procedure would have saved them. It’s scary to learn that most of the risky incidences actually happen at home, and the trauma of losing a loved one due to lack of knowledge can be astronomical.
You need to therefore learn CPR or BLS from a genuine training company. Get valid certifications and help prevent the unnecessary loss of lives.
