William Chaney Arrested For Headbutting Student Twice At AMI Kids In Tampa

School Director Accused Of Headbutting Student -- Twice

A Tampa school employee was arrested on charges of child abuse and battery after allegedly headbutting a student twice.

Director of Operations William Chaney was at AMI Kids, a school to help students separate “a troubled past from a bright future,” when a 13-year-old student was “horsing around” April 5, according to Tampa police.

The 6' 4" Chaney headbutted the student, and when the student told him that it didn’t hurt, Chaney headbutted him a second time. A colleague at the school who witnessed the incident reported it to the school and the Child Abuse Hotline. A child protective investigator called police.

Chaney was booked into the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office on April 9. He was released on a $2,500 bail about seven hours after his arrest.

AMI Kids fired Chaney after his arrest. School spokesman Sherri Ulleg told the Tampa Bay Times that in the year and a half Chaney worked at the school he did not have any disciplinary problems.
