Winter Storm Warning: Massive Storm Headed Towards Denver; Snow To Dump On Front Range, Blizzard Warning In Eastern Plains

Biggest Snow Storm Of The Season On Its Way?

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of the Front Range and a Blizzard Warning has been issued for the Eastern Plains, where the heaviest snowfall will likely accumulate.

The Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at 5 p.m. Thursday through 11 p.m. Friday and the Blizzard Warning goes into effect at 11 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

7News reports that this could be the biggest storm of the season with 5 to 10 inches of snow in Denver by Friday morning and 10 to 18 inches by Friday evening. 7News is also offering a text message alert program that sends a text to users notifying them when a school, daycare or business is closed or starting late on a snow day. The Denver Post reports that Denver could possibly accumulate up to 22 inches of snow by Saturday, before the storm finally clears out.

Before the storm arrives several major airlines are allowing their customers to make travel itinerary changes, offering travel waivers, and flight rescheduling, 9News has information on many of major carriers.

The City and County of Denver is getting prepared for the worst with plans to deploy 126 plows to help keep residential and side streets clear, Fox31 reports. The plows will begin Thursday night and keep plowing until further notice.
