It wasn't until the call that I was a 2013 WNBA All-Star that I truly believed it! Learning and growing as a player, from an 11-year-old novice to a high school state champ to a four-time Final Four competitor, dreams and goals have always driven me toward continued success. Being named an All Star erupted a plethora of emotions within me! I was surprised, ecstatic, and honored. But above all, I was proud. Proud of myself, my family, my school, my team, and all other influences and supporters that pushed me to this point.
All Star games, at this level, in any sport, seem so surreal. Players are heralded, teams are represented by the best, and viewers and fans celebrate the cream of the crop! As I've only experienced All Star festivities as a viewer and supporter, I can't begin to explain how it will be as a player. I look forward to meeting and celebrating with the fans that sustain this young league. I know the Mohegan Sun will be swarming with lots of fans and fun! I can't wait to play with some of the most talented players around. If Brit is healthy, I'll leave the dunking to her. :) I'm grateful for being able to share this moment with two of my teammates. It's interesting to find that we (Candace, Kristi and I) are playing in this game for the very first time. Most importantly, though, I'm ready to have fun and remember this experience and accomplishment of a lifetime!
