Woman Says She Is Running Out Of Hope To Save Alcoholic Husband

Megan says for the last five years, her husband, Scott, has been a drunken, incorrigible, alcoholic mess, and it’s a miracle he’s still alive. She says he has been admitted to the hospital numerous times, and claims he was drunk when he fell down a flight of stairs, broke his neck and ended up in a coma for 22 days, yet she says he continues to drink and put his life and the lives of others in jeopardy. Scott, on the other hand, claims it is not nearly as bad as they make it out to be and disputes being drunk on some of the occasions his family suspects he was.

“My husband, Scott, is an out-of-control alcoholic. He can go from perfectly sober in the morning to completely intoxicated, fall-down drunk by the end of the day,” Megan claims.

Kendall, Scott’s stepdaughter, adds, “When Scott’s drunk, he is completely gone.” She says he often embarrasses himself and was even found passed out in his own urine at a family reunion.

“My dad has had so many close calls, and he hasn’t learned from any of them. He lives like he’s invincible,” says Jordan, Scott’s daughter. “I even organized an intervention. He was actually drinking during the intervention and then he blacked out.”

Scott is adamant that he was not drunk when he fell and broke his neck and insists that he can get his drinking under control. “It is horrible for my wife and my kids to see me like that,” he admits. “I don’t expect it to end up that way, but it always ends up that way.”

Megan says after five rehabs and over 40 hospital visits, she’s running out of hope for her husband and her marriage, and she’s filed divorce papers. “I am completely exhausted. My family doesn’t deserve it, and I don’t deserve it,” she says. “Regardless of what Scott wants, I’m pretty much done.”

What does Dr. Phil think may be the reason for Scott’s drinking? And what does he say Scott needs to do to help get his life back on track. Is Scott ready to make a change?
