'YourWaterMark' Facebook App By Electrolux & Global Green USA Monitors Daily Water Consumption

Facebook App Monitors Daily Water Consumption

The Huffington Post is proud to feature an original story by ecofabulous.

Your carbon footprint is not a dirty shoe trail, which won’t be news to most readers. Many of us are now cognizant of our carbon footprint and how our personal choices affect air quality and global warming, but far fewer understand the impact that we have on water supply. By 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world’s population could be living under water stressed conditions, according to the UN Dept of Economic and Social Affairs. There are powerful steps that we can take to reduce our water consumption and improve the quality of the H2O around us.

Electrolux has created a Facebook application that assesses the amount of water individuals use on a daily basis – not just when you shower or brush your teeth, but when you make decisions about what to eat, how to commute and much more. Electrolux collaborated with Global Green USA, an environmental non-profit organization and affiliate of Green Cross International, to develop the calculations that underlie the YourWaterMark. Long time board member of Global Green, Zem Joaquin will be sharing both smart & stylish solutions to get you swimming in the right direction. Test yours at www.Facebook.com/Electrolux.

Feel free to ping ecofabulous founder Zem to get answers to your water dilemmas... Additionally, she is hosting a twitter party on July 24th to share tips, prizes and take questions about how to make a smaller splash. @zem & @ecofabulous
