September 22 marked the first official day of fall and, in case you had any doubt that the season has changed, take a look outside at the fall colors. With peak fall foliage season already underway, now is the time to get out and explore some of the stunning vistas and activities that autumn has to offer.

But where should you go? We recently asked Fly.com Facebook fans for some of their favorite destinations to witness nature's shift into yellow, orange and red-laden hues. The responses we got back were almost entirely focused on the eastern half of the U.S -- ranging from Long Island, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Niagara Falls and North Carolina. Michigan, a bit further away, also made the list.

However we have a few ideas of our own as well. So sit down, relax and enjoy a nice cup of warm apple cider while we whisk you away to some of our favorite fall foliage destinations nationwide.
