On Thursday, Arianna appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" to discuss the new USA series "Political Animals" alongside the show's star, Sigourney Weaver, as well as the show's co-creator, Greg Berlanti.

To mark the upcoming premiere of the series, The Huffington Post put together a list of America's Top 50 Political Animals. Arianna said of the list, "Well it's a long list of 50 people that we are asking our community to vote on to pick the top 10 winners. And the whole point of the list, which includes people from Bill Clinton and Teddy Roosevelt to Richard Nixon and LBJ, the point of the list is to start conversations about power, about leadership, about what it is to be a political animal."

She went on to explain what makes a political animal:

"For me the key characteristics are to kind of relish the job, whether you're good at it or not, to just kind of have that will to get things done. And that's why we included Dick Cheney. I mean he just knew where he was going, and when you didn't like where he was going, he was absolutely unrepentant to the end. You know: WMD, no WMD; torture, no torture."

President Obama is probably the most notable figure who didn't make HuffPost's list. Of the decision to exclude the commander-in-chief, Arianna stated, "our reasoning is that he has the highest intentions, but he does not seem to have the will to manifest them. And the will to manifest your intentions, good or bad, is at the heart of being a political animal."

USA's new series "Political Animals" premieres on Sunday July 15 at 10 p.m. ET.
