Live & Dangerous: February 2016

It may below freezing in most parts of the country this time of year, but don't let that stop you from braving the weather to check out some tunes! There are amazing live shows happening all across the country next month - here 3 emerging acts playing that we think are poised to break in 2016!

WHO: Alessia Cara
WHEN: February 12th, El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles, CA
WHY: If you aren't familiar with Alessia Cara yet, there is a good chance you will be soon. In just a matter of months the 19-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter has risen from an unknown act to a top 10 artist with her sleeper hit "Here". Her deeply personal brand of R&B pop scored her a deal with Def Jam last year, and she is poised for big things in 2016 with a slot at Coachella and her first ever headlining tour, which just kicked off last week. Alessia delivers a powerful live performance, with compelling vocals and a stage presence beyond her years. If you have plans to be in Los Angeles next month, don't miss her show on February 12th.

WHO: Tor Miller
WHEN: February 2nd, Barboza - Seattle, WA
WHY: Brooklyn native Tor Miller is another young act on the rise. The 19 year old indie pop artist released his debut EP "Headlights" last year to favorable reviews, with the Guardian labeling him as "a lovelorn troubadour possessed of gospel fervor". Miller has an uncanny ability to mix his ballad-like vocals with a fresh sound (think Tom Odell meets Hozier). He is a unique presence in the industry right now - and his live shows really showcase his star-power. Check out his intimate showcase on February 2nd in Seattle.

WHO: Ruth B
WHEN: February 24th, Schuba's Tavern - Chicago, IL
WHY: Singer-songwriter Ruth B has had an interesting rise to the mainstream. The 20-year old Canadian artist got her start out on the video app Vine, where short clips of her singing became so sought after that they eventually evolved into full blown songs. This caught the eye of Columbia Records, who signed her to their label last year. Ruth B's style is simple, heartfelt and is all about allowing her raw talent to shine through. Catch her show in the Windy City this February, where you are sure to hear some new tunes from her upcoming debut album!
