For the record:

A recent post ("Return of 1990s-Style Right-Wing Violence?" Feb 15, 2007), referred incompletely to a link between Republicans who issued death threats against John Edwards' staffers and William A. Donohue, President of the Catholic League. By describing these individuals as "his followers," the original phrasing left open the possible interpretation that there was a direct link between the Republicans who issued the death threats and the Catholic League.

The intent of this passage was to suggest that these Republicans were acting on their own and that they took matters into their own hands just as the media coverage became dominated by the Catholic League's confrontational rhetoric towards John Edwards and his staffers--but not to suggest that there was any direct link between them and either the Catholic League or Donohue.

The original text of the post has been clarified accordingly.
