The GOP Bromance

Seriously, I'm not making this stuff up. The Colorado GOP thought it would be a good idea to take a pretty bad (and dated) beer ad and turn it into a campaign ad for their bro, Walker Stapleton.

Say you are the Colorado GOP. Much like the national GOP, you've got a constituency problem. The numbers don't lie: if you only reach older, white men with your message, you will no longer be able to win elections in 2014 and beyond. Especially in Colorado, if you continue to alienate women, you will lose. So what do you do? You create the video Walker Stapleton: Real Man of Financial Genius to support your Republican State Treasurer, one Mr. Walker Stapleton.

Seriously, I'm not making this stuff up. The Colorado GOP thought it would be a good idea, just days before Stapleton's challenger for State Treasurer announced her candidacy, to take a pretty bad (and dated) beer ad and turn it into a campaign ad for their bro, Walker Stapleton. You know, the same Walker Stapleton who is a cousin to George W. Bush. That guy.

And so their ad, which is either painful to watch or outrageously hilarious, depending on how much you've had to drink, talks all about Real Men of Financial Genius. You know, as if only men have financial genius and, hey, by the way, I'm a man running against a women, who could never have financial genius. Nope, that's not sexist at all. Way to pull in the women, guys of the Colorado GOP. Good work. Keep it up!
