Dear Glenn,

You seem upset. Not the fake crying -- that was just bizarre. I mean all your talk of secession and suicide.

I understand your pain. I just ended an eight-year relationship with an abusive president. I thought virtually everything he did -- from tax cuts for the rich to a war based on lies -- diminished the country I love.

It was tough, but I worked through it. I did everything I could to push back against his policies and did my best to beat him and his party at the polls.

But you don't seem interested in working within the democratic system created by our founding fathers. You seem to think the only options for people upset with President Obama's economic policies are secession from the union or suicide.

I think that's a little melodramatic, Glenn. Besides, there's another option. You can renounce your citizenship.

It's not even hard. All you have to do is travel to a foreign country, visit a U.S. embassy or consulate, and sign a paper declaring that you're no longer a citizen.

Secession is illegal, and suicide is drastic. So if you're too lazy to work for what you believe in, if you really believe that a modest tax hike on the wealthiest Americans is tantamount to destroying our nation, please feel free to get out while the getting is good.

I promise, we won't even miss you.

Love,
Jesse
