Prishtina, 15 June 2008 -- The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Hashim Thaçi, today gave a lunch at his house in Burojë for a delegation from the American House of Representatives, led by Congressman Eliot Engel.

"You have made many sacrifices, and you are a great patriot of this country" - declared Congressman Engel of Prime Minister Thaçi.

In the name of the institutions and people of Kosovo, Prime Minister Thaçi thanked Congressman Engel for his work and contribution over 20 years, and expressed his respect for the American delegation, which was in Kosovo for the day of the Kosovo Constitution's entry into force.
...
"You have made many sacrifices and you are a great patriot of this country, having struggled for the dream of an independent Kosovo which is now made real. Dreams don't become reality by themselves; it takes the shedding of a great deal of blood, sweat and tears to realise them and in this place a great deal were shed and now we have reached this day," Congressman Engel said on this occasion.

Concluding, the well-known Congressman assured Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi that he would have the support of the U.S.A. in his every step building the Kosovo state.

Yes, it takes real character to do the bidding of one's heavily Albanian and heavily "connected" constituency in the Bronx, where police "are well aware about the insurmountable difficulties when it comes to the attempts to investigate Albanian organized crime," according to Carla Del Ponte, whose book mentions that "those few and far between investigations of the terrorist KLA were the hardest during her appointment as the ICTY chief prosecutor, that her researchers were confronted by the clans, vendettas and political pressures..."

And it takes great moral clarity to keeping digging a hole that one has dug himself into.
