Gucci hosted a private cocktail party for more than 175 guests at the House's Chicago store to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the horsebit loafer and the 1953 collection for men and women. In celebration of this icon, Gucci launched the Made to Order program offering guests the exclusive opportunity to create a customized version of the legendary loafer, by choosing from a selection of materials, colors, linings and horsebit finishings. To further highlight the 60th anniversary, the store showcased archival images of celebrities wearing the iconic loafer during the event. My favorite pair (the green python variety) was featured in The Talented Mr. Ripley worn by Matt Damon.

It was really refreshing to see color making an appearance on guest's fashionable attire throughout the evening - lavender, royal blue and emerald were standouts among a crowd dressed in black and white. In celebrating Gucci's iconic shoe, many in attendance sported the House's pieces and accessories. My favorite of the evening was host Mario M. Tricoci's sleek pair of vivid orange leather Gucci horsebit loafers -- a bold pop of color to proclaim the beginning of spring fashion!
