Each week, I will feature fascinating people from the world's of fashion, architecture, design, culinary, entertainment, and sports.

I choose this format as it provides you with an insider's peek into what motivates and makes them the influencers that they are.

This week, we're chatting with Lisa Dennison, Chairman of Sotheby's North and South America.

1) Whom do you credit for inspiring you to be the person you are today?

The obvious answer - my mother. She pushed me into Art History and that's defined my career, my passion, my life.

2) What is your favorite get-away-from-it-all destination?

Provence. I love the landscape, particularly in lavender or sunflower season, and the markets, and the food.

3) How do you define your personal style?

Very feminine. I defy the art world trend to wear only black, and I love color, accessories, sparkle, and pretty dresses. You will rarely see me in pants.
