(image courtesy of Rebecca Taylor.) It was all Kiwi Cool today at the New Zealand designer's Spring 2013 show, or as the show notes called it "relaxed refinement." The show was full of Rebecca's trademark icy blues, pale pinks and printed chiffons decorated with hibiscus prints. For Ms. Taylor, the runway is always full of soft, feminine looks. Her Spring 2013 collection showed sun faded tropical prints, sunset inspired pink nudes and even some ikat-polka dots.

There were none of the famously tailored suits designed by Ms. Taylor and worn by no less than Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. For Spring and Summer 2013, the designer used a soft neutral palette highlighted by touches of sherbet hues. Her collection mixed diaphanous chiffons, luxurious silks and textured soft leathers for a look that was a little bit rock n'roll and a little bit laid back beach chic.
There were a few subtle departures from the casual jumpsuits, flowing separates and vests with floral prints strolling down the Lincoln Center runway in the form of some gorgeous dresses with Ms. Taylor's trademark embellishments. The dress pictured above had a wonderful shimmer on the runway with just the right hint of sparkle without going to full on flash. That little bit of shimmer is the quintessential Rebecca Taylor, understated and effortlessly chic.
