Michelle Obama isn't the only one building new green gardens. Recently Jake Gyllenhaal joined me at Manual Arts High School located in South Los Angeles to help students clean up their edible organic garden and to help launch Global Green USA's new Green School Initiative. Global Green is urging students, parents and teachers to insure that students can learn in healthy classrooms that save money, reduce sick days and are an important community solution to global warming. As Earth Day soon approaches, its a great time to consider volunteering to help schools become healthier greener learning environments by planting or maintaining gardens, refurbishing classrooms and participating in other volunteer activities in their local schools. Additionally, we must urge Congress and President Obama to make funding for green schools a high priority. We can re-imagine a greener environment for our children and their future...one garden, classroom or school at a time.
